Breaking down trade ideas for Peyton Watson

Let’s break down the potential Peyton Watson trade to the Milwaukee Bucks and how he fits our team along with our timeline.

Peyton Watson of the Denver Nuggets.

Player Breakdown

Peyton Watson would be a really great asset for the Bucks and would slide perfectly into the Bucks lineup and time frame of growth for the team. He averaged 14.6 PPG 4.9 RPG and 2 Stocks a night in the 25-26 season. He’s an efficient scorer for such a young player and shows clear signs that if you increase his usage, he will thrive. He averaged over 20 PPG in January of 2026 on nearly 50% from the field in an increased role. He would be in an increased role with the Bucks instantly as a starting small forward along with being one of our main scoring options.

He would fit well into our team and our positional needs, he would be a great scoring punch at our forward spot. He would also add another great defensive archetype to our already solid list of defenders. Watson also fits our timeline really well and would be a key building block for our future and can also help raise our floor over the next few years that we are missing our first round picks in.

Trade Packages

I believe we will be looking at moving AJ Green and Kevin Porter Jr in this deal to help offload some of our log jam at the guard positions. I think both these players would be  able to help the Nuggets continue to win now. AJ Green would be a great 3 point shooter for them to come off the bench and can even play at the small forward position to help fill that depth. Kevin Porter Jr would be a really solid back up point guard behind Jamal Murray

I would be less excited to move Jaime Jaquez Jr, he is still young and has shown he is a very well rounded player which I’m excited to see how that develops as he steps into a bigger role. I also see that he would be a great pick up for the Nuggets and would fit really well into their team and continue a similar role to his on the Heat.

Worst case scenario would be us trading a first round pick for Watson. Don’t get me wrong, he is very deserving of a first round pick, if not multiple of them, but the Bucks are in a position where they need to hold onto their limited number of first round picks as they don’t have another untouched first round pick until 2031. With the new draft lottery rules and how far away our next picks are, we would be taking a huge risk to trade them away. If you can’t guarantee to be a top ten team in the NBA then you should look at trading your first round picks with serious hesitancy.

To conclude this one, I think if we can offload 2 of our guards like Kevin Porter Jr and AJ Green, possibly throw in a second round pick and add the kicker that we will take on Zeke Naji’s contract, then that would be a win of a trade for the Bucks. We would free up some space at our guard positions and allow more touches for developing players like Brayden Burries and Ryan Rollins. If we end up moving a first round pick in the deal, I would be pretty disappointed. I’d also be disappointed if we move Jaime Jaquez Jr in the deal, but would understand their desire to add him to the team.
