Bullishly breaking down the Milwaukee Bucks season prediction in a three-part series

We have gone over the tier one teams that I’m hopeful we can win some season series against in the upcoming season. Now let's go over my tier two teams; this tier consists of good teams that are either on their way up or down the NBA standings. These teams will be key to evaluating where the Bucks are at and seeing what we can get out of this season. I wouldn’t be expecting to win many (if any) of these season series, but a sneaky win here or there can be an absolute win for this new-look Bucks team.

Let's take a look at the 9 teams in tier two of our rankings, and then we can dive into a deeper look at why we might be able to challenge these teams.

-Phoenix Suns

-Portland Trail Blazers

-Golden State Warriors

-Atlanta Hawks

-Boston Celtics

-Detroit Pistons

-Indiana Pacers

-Orlando Magic

-Utah Jazz

-Washington Wizards

Let's break these teams down into some more sub-tiers based on my confidence in beating them and how their teams have improved or declined over the offseason.

Kicking us off, we have the Golden State Warriors in a sub-tier of their own. The Warriors were at a crossroads this offseason; they needed to make a big move to keep in contention and squeeze the last bit of juice out of the amazing career of Steph Curry. That being said, they have failed. The Warriors added Yaxel Lendeborg, which is a great addition for winning now and for the future, but that was essentially the only move they made. They’ll miss Jimmy Butler for an extended time this season, and things aren't looking great for them. Their roster is good enough, but they won’t be competing for a championship, and I can see the Bucks winning one game out of our two-game series against them, and they are the only team in this article that I think we could potentially sweep the season series.

Next, we are looking at a nice mix of 6 teams that had a range of improvements, regressions, or stayed stagnant this offseason. This sub-tier features the Celtics, Suns, Magic, Jazz, Wizards, and the Pacers. The Suns and the Magic remained relatively the same (who knows how the Miles Bridges trade will materialise for the Suns), but they are both young-ish teams that are proven to be consistent, and I can see the Bucks stealing a game from each of these series but won’t be expecting much more from them. I hold a dislike towards the Pacers, but they are a good team that went through a one-year falloff. They will excitedly welcome back Tyrese Haliburton, who will hopefully be back to his best after his Achilles injury in their fairy-tale finals run (sadly beating our Bucks and where a lot of my dislike began). The Pacers will be another one where, in our four-game division rival series, I can see us winning one game or possibly sneaking two, but they are a well-coached, good roster that will be looking to succeed this season. The Celtics got worse, but they’re still stacked with talent, and I think we can steal one game from them, but it will be an interesting series. Finally, in this sub-tier, we have the Jazz and the Wizards; both of these teams improved over this offseason after being bad for quite some time. That being said, they are largely unproven, and I can see us winning some of these games.

Finally, we are looking at the top teams in this tier: the Pistons, Trail Blazers and the Hawks. All of these teams have been on the up and have deep rosters that are well coached. I think we will be lucky to steal a few games from these teams for the above reasons, and these matchups will be key to seeing where this Bucks team is this season.

Those are my final thoughts on the second part of my bullish season prediction for the Milwaukee Bucks. These are some interesting teams that I think could be a ceiling on our season but also a chance to evaluate and possibly push further than expected in the standings. Next, we are going to look at the best teams in the league and what positive notes we can pull from games that will be a serious battle for the Bucks.
